From helping your child learn the names of their facial features to an easy and fun way to pass the time on a rainy Saturday afternoon, this simple DIY face magnet craft is great for the entire family. All that you need are a few items you probably already have around your house and a couple of trusty Apex disc magnets before you can start creating your masterpiece! Remember, adult supervision is required for this craft. 

Gather Your Supplies and Get Started

Here is what you will need:

  • Photo of your child’s face (you can even print one at home and laminate it for extra protection)
  • Elmer’s Glue 
  • Disc magnets (we recommend 12mm x 2mm disc magnets) 
  • One sheet of cardboard or cardstock paper
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Markers

Instructions:

  1. Cut out the photo of your child’s face and place it over your cardboard or cardstock sheet, tracing around the photo.
  2. Once you complete your traced image, place a small amount of glue on the back of your photo and press it securely to the cardboard/cardstock, pressing out any wrinkles.
  3. Allow a few minutes for the glue to dry.
  4. Once dry, place a small dab of glue on your disc magnet and press it on the center of your photo.
  5. Ask your child to create accessory pieces using colorful sheets of construction paper and markers. Examples include hats, mustaches, cell phones, necklaces, etc. 
  6. Once completed, cut the shapes out and attach a disc magnet to the back of each accessory.
  7. Mix and match your accessories to start creating!
